What is this? A redline is when one artist draws over another artist's work as a teaching tool to point out mistakes and give advice. These redlines were solicited by the original redline owner as a way of learning - and were given freely, no credit required. oh a couple of lightsource questions:
1) The yellow arrows are light or areas I've made mistakes?
2) How do you determine the radius?

not necessarily mistakes but I wanted to point out the direction your lighting currently was pointing. some of them are correct, others aren't. with the light radius... the bigger/brighter the light source, the larger the radius.. the smaller/dimmer the light source, the smaller the radius. for a flashlight in particular, the beam reaches a few feet if you're directly in the beam, but outside that beam is basically fall-off light.. light that is bouncing back off other objects, so only objects really close to the flashlight (or where light would bounce off a really reflective surface) will get any light.

Oh okay. I got confused by it.
So for radius you just have to guess what it is compared to the light source and work off experience?

yup XD for instance.. sunshine.. HUGE radius (prolly most of the picture it's outdoors) XD guess, but stick with it once you decide

Thanks Mio. I'll see about sitting down and fixing some of the errors tonight! Light sources in particular are something I struggle with, but that's why we keep at it right? To get better ^^

^^ Well with this page as I'm sure you guessed it's a cover...and I only draw one every like 9-10 months so I try and make them look nicer than my usual artwork...so your redlining came as a godsend :P
(Of course trying to make them look nicer apparently still means "Hey lets try doing things that are a lot harder than what I normally do" >_> I'm stupid.)
