Since I was cging my latest commission anyway... (and it's already going to take awhile) I decided to go ahead and make a tutorial on CGing while I was at it :) This is part 1. I ran out of room. I'll continue when I work on the picture more over the next few days :)

Thanks for the tutorial (I've been faving tons of yours, sorry about the spam xD But they are so complete and detailed, they're amongst the most useful tutorials I've seen on dA, I HAD to fave them so I can find them again if I ever need it).

So, I've got a silly question : what does CG stand for? I always see people talk about "CGing this, CGing that", but I've never seen anyone use the fall name for it so I don't even know what it means xD

XD it originates from the phrase "computer graphics" but it actually has several meanings XD the first meaning (and more readily understood) is that it pertains to any form of digital media created on a computer... this usually means 3D rendered models such as the movie Finding Nemo or Toy Story.. and that's what most people know it for. The second, less understood meaning (which is actually older) is more pertaining to art... when someone colors or paints a piece of art on a computer it usually referred to as "CGing". Dunno how it came about, but it's been in use for the last couple of decades at least :3 In my tutorials I'm using the second meaning obviously ^^ Now a days some people mistakenly refer to CGing (in its second context) as "Rendering" but it isn't an appropriate alternative.. Rendering ALWAYS refers to 3D modeling, never art.
